Alien Arena , an online first-person shooter (FPS) multiplayer deathmatch freeware game based on the GPL id source code. This FPS game freeware has dramatically improves their graphics design along with many other technical improvements and new game content compare previous Alien Arena version. So, Alien Arena has been transformed into a lean, clean, fragging machine, with stunning visual effects that are usually reserved for commercial titles.

Meanwhile, Alien Arena game content becomes more attractive with 60 game levels content, nine weapons (with alt-fire modes), six player characters, mutaters, six game play modes, and an in-game server browser. With modes like Team Core Assault, Cattle Prod, Duel, Deathball, Capture the Flag, and All Out Assault, Alien Arena has an endless replayability factor.

Meanwhile, Alien Arena graphical improves a lot with GLSL per-pixel lighting on all surfaces, GLSL post-process frame-buffer effects, light volumes, shader optimizations, new textures and meshes, rewritten mesh rendering routines, improved accuracy of real-time lighting of meshes in the GL Shading Language, and faster shadow rendering.

Beside that, the Alien Arena audio also retooled and contains a number of new sound effects and underlying improvements. In Alien Arena 2009 there is now OpenAL 1.1 support along with support for Ogg Vorbis audio files as well as doppler sound effects and stereo music files.

This first person shooter game is available for Windows, Linux/Unix and MAC (release pending).
