I have seen this sort of comment all over the place, and I have to ask, “what is your problem?”. Such a comment can only be read as negative, however look at the facts:
1. “nLite does not run on, or support creation of installation cd’s for any version of windows prior to 2000. ” - Who cares! Microsoft does not support anything that old, and what idiots are still bothering to install windows 95, 98 or millenium edition! And it works for all languages!
2. “FROM YOUR STATEMENT - nLite does not support vista” - WRONG! nlite will run fine on vista to create cds for 2000/XP/2003, and if you need to generate a vista disk then try the Vista Version of nlite, called vLite (Currently in Beta 2) and avaliable from http://www.vlite.net
3. “Beside that, nLite requires .NET Framework 2.0 in order to run” - So does a lot of software these days. .Net is ten years old, and 2.0 is four years old and comes as standard with 2003 Server. 3.0 is one year old and comes as standard with Vista which therefore also includes 2.0 etc. 3.5 is due out at the end of this month. Infact Microsoft mainstream support for .net 1.0 and 1.1 has already ended. And there are thousands of .Net applications out there now.
3. “nLite does not support any non-windows environments” - SO. I have a copy of Office 2007 fro WIndows and it won’t even load on Linux or a Mac, supprisingly enough. Oh, and my copy of Word 2007 can’t edit icon files. Programs have a specific purpose, and nlite fulfills it’s purpose admirably.
