Free Windows Media Center Software in XP with Media Portal (HTPC Software)
Media Portal, a free media center software that able to turn your XP into a advance media Center like Windows Media Center. It works similar like Windows Media center which allow you listen to your favorite music & radio, watch and store your videos and DVDs, view, schedule and record live TV as a digital video recorder and much much more. Plus more, Media Portal has a user friendly and attractive interfaces which easy to understand and navigate their HTPC system. You can even adding for several remote control (streamzap, MCE, redeye, winlirc, hauppauge, FireDTV) to remote control media portal software.
Beside that, Media Portal also supports lots of other third party plugins to increase the media portal media center functionality like WebBrowser, Outlook software , Skype and etc. All this plugin can be downloaded from the Media Portal Plugins page.
To run Media Portal HTPC software, your computer must equipped at least 1.4Ghz above processer and minimum 256 RAM. On software, The software requires are Windows XP services pack 2, .net framework 2 , media player 10 and DirectX 9.0C. Nice find, I hope to try this out on my XP PC. Out of curiosity, what does HPTV stand for? I’ve heard of IPTV, never HPTV.
