Launchy - Free Application and Document Launcher

Launchy is a free open source application launcher for Windows to help you quickly access programs or files on your computer by simply typing the first few letters of the name. Launchy indexes the programs in your start menu for fast searching. It is useful when there are too many programs on your Start Menu.

Launchy is not just a file launcher, it also can:

• Search Google - Type in google, then tab, then your search query and press enter
• Check the Weather -Type in Weather, then tab, then your zip code or city,state and press enter
• Search other sites - Other sites you can search include wikipedia, msn, yahoo, amazon, netflix, imdb, and more.
• Browse your computer - Type in c:, then tab, then a folder or file, hit tab, and continue
• The Launchy Calculator -Launchy has a built in calculator
• Index your Bookmarks & Folders
• Index your Music - File type such as .mp3 .aac .ogg
• Index your Pictures - File type such as .jpg .gif .bmp
• Index your Documents - File type such as .doc .pdf .xls .ppt
• Index custom Commands - File type such as .exe .bat .lnk

Launchy automatically runs in the background every time you log into your computer. With Launchy, you can quickly launch your documents, project files, folders, websites, and bookmarks on your computer without using the mouse. To use Launchy, just press ALT+Space and a input field will appear. Then type in the name of the program you wish to launch. When you typing the first few letters of the name, Launchy will display results of items that match your keyword. If the displayed result is what you want, hit enter to launch the program.

If the displayed result is not what you are looking for, then stop typing for a second and Launchy will show you a list of alternative suggestions to choose from.

Launchy also has the option to add folders to its catalog for indexing. Just right-click on Launchy anywhere outside of the text areas to change the skin, enable or disable plugins, add new directories and file types for Launchy to scan, or change the hotkey.
