Sandboxie: Run Infected Applications Safely

Some times it happens that we are not certain of our system’s security, may be due to out dated antivirus or other facts. At times also there is a need to try an application that our antivirus detects a file as suspicious and deletes even before we can access it. If we close the antivirus program, running such files can severely damage our system stability and other information. Sandboxie helps you in doing this safely.

sandboxie

Sandboxie is a windows freeware application to run any application in an isolated environment so that it does not effect other applications and user data present in the system. Using sandboxie is extremely simple, after installation you can either add applications to sandboxie or simply right click on any application and select it to be opened within sandboxie.

It is a good option if you do not use antiviruses like Kaspersky, avast internet security etc. These by default provide sandbox mode to run suspicious files safely.

    I am using the free version currently. The only down side for the free version is the limitation on running of sandbox. I can only run 1 sandbox at any time. This could be enough is I only use it for browser but sometimes I need it to open word documents downloaded from other websites using browser out from running sandbox and I would be prompted to close my running sandbox in order to make way for the document.The rest are great.I don’t feel any slow down in webpage loading.

    @soon, I’m using Sandboxie (the free version) too and i can run more than one application in it. Try to update your program maybe you have an old version :-{
    if not try to create a new sandbox like this :
    open the Sandboxie software ==> tab Sandbox ==> Create new sandbox ==> give it name ==> and OK.
    And now if you try to run some program you can choose in which sandbox that you want to run it ;-) .
