Here is a Windows Vista Tips to teach Windows vista user speed up SATA hard drive performance by activating the enhanced write caching features. By default, Windows Vista has built-in support for Serial ATA(SATA) hard drives, but this enhanced write caching features basically doesn’t automatically enable when Window Vista installed.

But you can activated this Windows vista enhanced write caching features under Windows vista Device Manager setting( or you enter devmgmt.msc from the command line).

The feature activation is simple, all you need is select SATA hard drive and right-click on your SATA hard drive. Select Policies tab, Check on ” Enable enabling writing caching on the disk ” box and ” Enable advanced performance ” box.
