Webmin is the most common open source web hosting control panel for Linux, OpenSolaris and Unix System. This free web hosting control panel allows you configure hosting users account, disk quotas, services, configuration files etc, as well as modify and control many open source apps, such as the Apache HTTP Server, PHP, MySQL etc.
Meanwhile, Webmin also lets web hosting administrator change passwords, set up mail filters, edit the Apache .htaccess files, log in to MySQL and manage your database tables and records, log into the server through SSH, and so on. However, Webmin is largely based on Perl, running as its own process and web server. It defaults to TCP port 10000 for communicating, and can be configured to use SSL if OpenSSL is installed with additional required Perl Modules.
This free hosting control panel features can be expanded by installing modules, which can be custom made. You can add Virtual min on Webmin for managing multiple virtual hosts through a single interface, like Plesk or Cpanel. It supports the creation and management of Apache virtual hosts, BIND DNS domains, MySQL databases, and mailboxes and aliases with Sendmail or Postfix. It makes use of the existing Webmin modules for these servers, and so should work with any existing system configuration, rather than needing it’s own mail server, web server and so on.
Another modules will be CloudMin (Cloud platform software), which additional user interface that managing virtual systems, such as Xen, KVM and OpenVZ instances. Using Cloudmin you can create, destroy, resize, start-up, shut-down and restrict multiple instances using different virtualization technologies from a single interface.
