My Microsoft Carioca Rummy games cheats on me! It refuses to accept 3 or same number, i.e. 3 fours, etc. as a trio and repeatedly gives me error messages. Also, when the computer discards a card, it sends it to my cards instead of the discard pile, then gives me the message, “You must discard” when I haven’t drawn yet. Frustrating. I tried deleting the program and re-installing, but same problems.
I have the same problem – it’s buggy and very annoying
Please help me to download Carioca Rummy. I used it and enjoyed it on my XP but now I have Vista and it will not install. thank you.

I have the same problems and more with Carioca Rummy. I have to keep in mind that it is only a game and not a very good one even though it’s from microsoft. In fact the computer player plays so poorly, I think microsoft has not done very good programming on it. Is that surprising or what??
At first I thought it was a new release and there would be an upgrade to fix all the little annoying problems – so was really surprised to find it had been out for about a year. I would try to contact them about it – but assume some folks at microsoft must play it….. and they know who to complain to in order to get anything fixed.
In the meantime I can’t really complain as I must really enjoy winning almost every game (with jokers) – because I keep playing it – and it’s nice to win against a computer anyway.
To get Carioca working in Windows Vista (I have the Home Premium version), you have to set the installer up in compatibility mode and set it to run as an XP program. same after the program installs, I think.
Start Menu – Control Panel – Programs (click on the Programs link, not the suggestions under it), Then under Programs and Features click the “Use an older program with this version of Windows”.
Follow the Yellow Brick Road to the City of Oz to see the Wizard. 😉 (I mean, go through all the questions in the Wizard).
