To change the Windows Vista Live Messenger skin is easy. Go to MSN messenger directory and upload the Msgsres.dll ( Notes: Turn off the windows live messenger first before replace msgsres.dll )
umm how do i change the skin?? i read it and it says “Go to MSN messenger directory and upload the Msgsres.dll”

I have been trying for months to use this skin but i cant, i really dont understand, do i need another version?? I have the 8.1… i paste it unto the folder and NOTHING!!!

Uhh dude i have Vista and i dont know how to put this theme onto my MSN 8.5 can anyone help me and i dont have this file called C:Program FilesMSN or Windows live messanger i cant find where The vista is keeping my MSN windows live messanger file LOL

you need to turn off the windows live messenger before you replaced the files.

you can try to use windows live vista messenger skin on vista. however, it’s advisable to backups your original files before replace.

i dont have the new windows vista, but i would like to have the windows vista msn one..
..wen i go to put it as my skin nothing happens!
and if i try to open that file, it says it cannot be opened.

Hey, I replaced the msgsres.dll into the WLM 8.5 folder found in Windows Live/Messenger. It does work, but WLM crashes if you try to send offline messages. I hope this skin also comes out for WLM 8.5, so it fixes that.

DOES THIS WORK ON XP…
1. go to program files
2. go to msn messenger or windows live, then messenger
3. rename the old msgres.dll to msgres_backup.dll
4. paste the new msgres.dll

I have xp, and it works beautifully. It is really nice and really easy to do. Just copy and paste everything in the zip folder straight to wear you keep your windows live folder. And the next time you open your windows live it will automatically be of that theme. If you don’t like the colors of the themes you can actually change the color of your windows live messenger and then the theme will have a different color but still keep the design, i use orange because it looks pretty amazing plus, you can still see the black letters. however, the only downfall to this is for me it freezes up and shuts down every now and then. so i have to completly log back into windows live. you may have better luck. it’s quiet annoying.
