  • lejoyeux

I did not do it, but I guess to uninstall -> Change or Remove Programs
To see if any change -> Run -> type “dxdiag” -> Check the last line on that screen.

Doesn’t work to uninstall? Well, please say it loud, so I will avoid it!

    wow……… its working….

my dxdiag also showed directx version 10…. yippeeeeeee!!!

now off to test how actually it made a difference?

  • Conejocachondo

Apparently working. Dxdiag shows DX10. HL2 reports “software DirectX = DX10?.Uau!!!…. But….. apparently, my Radeon 4850 Catalyst 8.11 XP drivers, DON´T support DX 10. It´s useless OS supporting DX10 while your drivers doesn’t support it. DX10 games doesn’t install, because they tell they need Vista to play in DX10 mode. Comments? anyone really played games in XP in DX10 mode? With Radeons? Catalyst version?

  • Med. Derdabi

Thanx “Km” so much, It works perfectly.

  • thirdeye

tried dx10 mode in devil may cry 4 and it doesnt want to run.
Anyone tried running dx10 mode on other games?

  • Zka

It’s working perfectly, but I don’t see any changes on the graphics………

  • Taishi

Do not use this, most games that require DX9c won’t agree with it and won’t run, its also hard to remove from your system!

  • Ryan

Works.. but most dx10 games require Vista… you can play the russian version of Cryostasis on XP (vista only) with this fix though. .awesome game

Well hello everybody ! I’m new in here and I wouldn’t be if I’d solved what don’t let me sleep be4 (lol) ^^
    This is my config :
    CORE 2 E 7400 @ 3500 MHZ
    GIGABYTE GA EP43
    SAPPHIRE ATI R 4850
    1 X 2GB KINGSTON @ 1066 MHZ 5-5-5-15
    WIN XP 32 BIT SP3

    NICE , DON’T YOU THINK …

    WELL ,
AND NOW .. THIS IS THE BIG *** PROBLEM :S :@

I’VE EXPERIENCED IN MOST OF THE NEW GAMES EXCEPTIONING A LITTLE MINORY A VERY IMPORTANT DELAY IN THE KEYBOARD SIGNAL , WHAT IT MEANS THAT ALL THE COMMANDS I GIVE FOR EXAMPLE GO FORDWARD , TURN TO LEFT , JUMP ETC , ARRIVES WITH AN IMPORTANT TIME DIFFERENCE WHAT MAKES A GAME UNPLAYABLE IS SOMETHING LIKE A VIDEO LAGGING, BUT THE PROBLEM ACTUALLY RESIDES IN THAT DEVICE . ANYWAY I FOUND A TEMPORAL SOLUTION BY UPDATING OR REINSTALLING THE VIDEO DRIVER AND DIRECTX … BUT IN MOST CASES THE PROBLEM COMES BACK WHEN INSTALLING A NEW APPLICATION OR CHANGING SOME SYSTEM PARAMETER.
I CAN’T JUST BELIEVE THIS BEHAVIOR HAVING SUCH A POWERFUL SYSTEM .
AND I THINK THERE ISN’T ANY OTHER SOLUTION THAN REINSTALLING THE OS OR INSTALLING A SERVICE PACK 2 , I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO , SO PLEASE IF YOU KNOW THIS PROBLEM ORIGIN AND SOLUTION PLEASE TELL ME .

    THANK YOU VERY MUCH =)

OH , I ALMOST FORGOT , OTHER GAMES LIKE ONE I’D REALLY LIKE TO PLAY THAT IS CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK ESCAPE FROM BUTCHER’S BAY , DOESN’T EVEN START BECAUSE OF CRASHING AND OTHER RELATED ISSUES , AND ANOTHER ONES LIKE F.E.A.R. HAVE SOME GRAPHICS BUG’S ”NON SOLVED BY PATCHES”

  • daryraihan

    tnx. it’s very good.

  • MatheusMK3

    Hi,
I’m trying to play BF2 using your tutorial, this really works?
Why when i really need to play, i love it!!! ;)
So, thanks for the tutorial man!!!
    Rebooting now…

  • Roflcopters

It doesn’t work at all really. It just tricks DxDiag into thinking it’s DirectX 10. Drivers for XP don’t come with the code required.

  • ManicMonster

For those who say it doesn’t work. I run Vista on my laptop and XP on my dual core main machine. I could not play any of the directx 10 games on my dual core no matter the specs ram and video.. alas if you are thinking it fools the dxdiag into showing it’s dx10, think about it.. why would my DX10 games now run on my XP based machine. :) And yes you can copy over some of the other files in DX10 as well.

There are a few extra things you have to do but it works. You really have to know what you are doing, even step by step I have tried to explain and people still mess it up. All I can say is that to those who know how to do it enjoy it. DX11 and Win7 really looks nice. Makes some of the DX10 games look a lot better, there must have been some things missing in DX10 that left the quality down a bit.

    Have fun

  • nino silvio

installed and games run better now also installed vista driver on xp system somhow it works just fine.

thats because my nvidea geforce 9300m gs was designed to run dx10 i think

I don’t understand all these issues with the dx10 patch.
I’ve played in dx 10 mode with crysis using the instructions they have given and had no problems whatsoever+a great performance boost..i’m using an HD 4850 with catalyst version 10.3. The only reason for failures here i can think of is any anti-virus software/protection software or even the OS stopping the installer from modifying system components.
I have personally tried this on 2 different computers with an XP OS and had NO problems whatsoever. Try running the installer on the ADMINISTRATOR account on your computer (even if your account is set to administrator), Your PC will automatically have an admin account set up for system modification and repairs.
If there are any REAL problems after you have followed all the given instructions i would love to hear about it.

    Hi there,
I have done everything as it was written, and when i start DXDiag – get the same screen where it writes that now I am usin DX 10, but when I start the game “Devil May Cray4: icon, it shows me that I can play only with DX 9, and DX 10 icon still is inactive, is there something more that I need to do?
    Please help
    Thanks in advance

  • kuro

To those people who are having problem with the “entry point error” msvcrt.dll, you just have to delete the file dwmapi.dll which is located in the C:\Windows\system32, this will fix all of the conflicts with the other software. This is due to the dll copied to Xp’s system which is originally for windows Vista. I also got that error popping from my screen, but after deleting the dll it got Battlefield 2 working! :D

Now for those who doesn’t really get there Xp work with DirectX10 try to update first your OS to service pack 3, and make sure that your graphics card are DirectX10 compliant, then update your drivers too with nvidia or ati.

i have downloaded the NSF2 game when i started to installing the game to my PC it ask the directX 9 so help me

  • http://www.philhendrieshow.com bob

I did not try it, although my graphic card ATI HD 4600 series is DirectX 10.1 enabled, so while it’s an AGP -gpu if I had a pc running vista,..err XP I can imagine the GPU drivers responding nicely to this direct X, so with that in mind only do it if you have a GPU that is enabled with 10 and up if not you shouldn’t bother. So I guess this is the reason why people keep having problems.. If i tried to, I wouldn’t worry about it not working, it’s the older direct x games running on Xp what worries me more.. are older games responding well to this DX10 RC2? ?? Anyone?

  • Vistablues

    READ THIS FIRST!!

Before using the DIRECT X 10 installer for XP.
    (DirectX10 RC2 Pre Fix 3 patch Installer)
You MUST HAVE A DIRECT X 10 Capable Video Card Installed in Your system.
Nvidia 8900 series and above or ATI 3800 series and above Only will work.
Video Cards below the above mentioned GPU series will not work. You MUST Upgrade!
You Must also have XP service pack 3 installed and the latest drivers for your Card. Nvidia or ATI.

A lot of you people seem to be confused about this.
Again; You absolutely need a “DX10 CARD Installed in your system” for this Fix to have any hope of working!

What your doing with these files, is basically FORCING windows XP (which doesn’t normally run dx10) to run DX10. Those files that you enter, edit windows XP by telling XP to find your dx10 card, and to use it to improve your graphics!

Bottom line: If You do not have a Direct X10 Video Card In your system, do not install
the DX10 Win-XP fix. It will not work for you!

I’m not a gamer any more but I’ll give this a try since I just put XP SP3 in a machine with a DX10.1 gfx chip in it… I realized I was stuck at 9.0c and now I know why.  I’ll post back here to say if it worked or not.
